Hello my name is Miriam Gutierrez and I am the 2nd Grade Teacher

My name is Miriam Gutierrez and I was born in Manhattan, New York. I am the first daughter of five in my family, both of my parents were born in the Dominican Republic, who after leaving in NY for a few years decided to move back to the Dominican Republic where me and my sisters were raised. Many years ago I came to Orlando, Florida with a dream of going to college and becoming a famous Fashion Designer. I went to school majoring in fashion design, and I was able to design several collections, have my own Fashion Shows to exhibit my collections and even own a clothing store. It wasn’t until 6 years ago when the passion for teaching came to place. In 2010 I decided to go back to college and study education. Since then, I have been committed to making an impact in the lives of my students by providing them with the time and resources they need during such an important stage of their lives. I enjoy spending time with my 20 year old daughter, Jailene, my mom and sisters, going to the movies and shopping.

Hello, my name is Sonia MatosI am the 2nd Grade Teacher

I was born in Caguas P.R. I come from a big family, 7 girls, two boys. My parents traveled a lot to New York and back to the island every 2 to 3 years, it was exhausting. But thanks to them I'm a fully bilingual person, a very precious gift that has opened many doors.

I am married and I have two special girls, Yayyyy!!! More chancletas" A Spanish term used when more girls than boys are born!!  I dedicated myself fully into taking care of my girls, the Plant Nursery, and my husband but most importantly the special talent that God given to me which it is singing, writing songs, playing the guitar, and ministering.  During the year of 1997 I first recorded sacred music after winning best female vocalist of a very special festival named LIRA. A festival that had participants from all over the island. I love education and this led me to obtain my BA in education and to continue for my Masters Degree in ESOL. I have the best example to follow and I want to learn how to be a teacher just like my Jesus.

None of these events would have been possible without my God and that awesome verse that I have made mine, TODO LO PUEDO EN CRISTO QUE ME FORTALECE.  Fil. 4:13

Now the Lord has placed me here, and I find reside in Orlando getting ready to continue in God’s will and to let him finish the work he has begun with me.

I will always be strong because my God has never failed me. During my deepest sorrows he has showed me his love and mercy over and over again!!
